Stop the use of music in torture

I have signed a petition at Zero DB, which is an international campaign to end the use of music as a form of torture during interrogations. The Musicians' Union supports this campaign. I would encourage everyone to sign it, especially as we have just marked the sixtieth Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

"The UN and European Court of Human Rights have banned music torture, but to this day its use in secret prisons around the world is widespread.

It's our aim to stop its use by encouraging widespread condemnation of the practice and calling on governments and the UN to adhere to and enforce the Convention Against Torture and other relevant treaties. By joining us, our task will be made much easier."
